

Dorothy concluded her career at LSU after many years of dedicated service. She was active and accomplished from a young age. Dorothy was a proud member of 4-H, serving as secretary, and was also honored as a Senior Beauty. She also served as editor of the school newspaper and taught Sunday School, reflecting her lifelong commitment to faith and community. Even while still in school, Dorothy worked two or three jobs at a time, demonstrating the strong work ethic that would define her life. She generously gave her time to volunteer in places others often overlooked, always putting others before herself.
She was a 1944 graduate of Vivian High School. She furthered her education at Draughon Business College and begin her career working for the education system as an administrative assistant.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Scripture, Sr.; daughter, Laura Scripture; brothers, Harold White, Charles White, Ray White, J. Fred White, and Tommy White; and son-in-law, William Paul Sullivan.
Dorothy is survived by her son, John T. Scripture, Jr. and wife Nancy; grandsons, John D. Scripture, Kyle B. Scripture and wife Tanya, John Sullivan and wife Madeleine, and Brennan Sullivan and wife Nicole; granddaughter, Hannah Nowland and husband Donald; great grandsons, John Connor Scripture and wife Abi, Cameron Scripture, Coleman Scripture (Sydneigh), Matthew Scripture, Logan Scripture, John Sullivan, Jr., and Oliver Nowland; great granddaughters, Brynlee Sullivan and Eileanor Sullivan; great great granddaughter, Evelyn Scripture, and brother Ronny White.
Pallbearers will be her great grandsons, John Conner Scripture, Cameron Scripture, Coleman Scripture, Matthew Scripture, Logan Scripture, Jack Sullivan and Brennan Sullivan.
A graveside service for Dorothy will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Hill Crest Memorial Park, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037 with Tommy Patton officiating. Following the graveside service, friends and family are invited to a reception in the hospitality room.
