Services to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Dr. Gary Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Effie was born on December 1, 1937, to Brozeal and Edythe Conly at their home in Bossier City. She was one of four siblings.
Effie is preceded in death by her parents, Brozeal and Edythe Conly; her loving husband, Hal Becker; son, Harold William Becker; granddaughter, Jennifer Huffman; and grandson, Jonathon Remedies.
She is survived by her children, David Becker, Deborah Eldridge, husband John, and Brenda Drinkard, husband Phillip; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Becker; grandchildren, Shawn Drinkard, wife Sarah, Jason Drinkard, wife Melissa, Jacquelyn Thompson, Jeffery Huffman, Jeremy Becker, wife Kristen, Shannon Becker, David Colten Becker, Lauren Becker. As well as 17 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memories are also her siblings, Roy Conly, wife Gayle, Faye Sayer, and Wayne Conly, wife Aylice.
Effie met her soulmate, the love of her life, Harold "Hal" Becker at Waller Baptist Church while he was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base. They were married on May 5, 1954 and were blessed with four children. They had a beautiful 66 years together.
Effie was a devoted wife and mother while traveling during Hal's Air Force career. The family returned to Bossier City in 1971. Effie worked and retired from the Barksdale Commissary after more than 20 years of service.
Hal and Effie shared a strong faith and love for the Lord. They were very active in their church home at Waller Baptist Church for over 68 years.
The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at Cornerstone Specialty Hospital for the amazing care they gave. Extra special thanks to Effie's nurses Lexi and Jill for making her final days and moments peaceful and serene. Also, the family would like to thank the nursing aide staff for taking such good care of her. A special thanks to Dr. Delmundo for all the love and care not only for my mother but also for my father.
