

CMSgt Elmore Clay Owens, Jr., 95, of Bossier City, was called to his Heavenly home on September 4, 2025, at the Northwestern Louisiana Veterans Home. He was born on December 11, 1929, in Albany, Louisiana, Livingston Parish, to the late Elmore Clay Owens, Sr. and Willie Neal Owens.
Mr. Owens was drafted into the United States Army on March 14, 1946, upon completion of basic training, he received what is known as a “short discharge” to enter the United States Army Air Force. He remained in the United States Army Air Force/United States Air Force serving this grateful nation until retirement on August 31, 1975, as a Security Police Sergeant. Mr. Owens has been a resident of the Shreveport/Bossier City area since July 1973 and was a member of the Heritage Missionary Baptist Church, Bossier City, Louisiana. He was a member of the American Legion Post #258, Springfield, Louisiana, AF&AM Masonic Lodge #532, Midwest City, Oklahoma, and Scottish Rite Consistory, Shreveport, Louisiana.
Mr. Owens is preceded in passing by his parents; Elmore C Owens Sr and Willie N Owens, sister Helen O Smith, brothers Newton W Owens and Donald E Owens, his first wife Syble Owens, daughter Danita O Weems, and wife Maxine R Owens..
Left to cherish Mr. Owens’ memory will be , son-in-law Douglas Weems; cousins Roy Neal (Bonnie) and Carla Mizell, nephew Donald Bruce Hillis (Jeffery) many extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life service in the Chapel of Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, for Mr. Owens on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM with a visitation from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Reverend Cole Melton of Heritage Baptist Church will be officiating. Interment will immediately take place on the grounds of Hill Crest Memorial Park, 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Heritage Manor Stratmore, Shreveport, Louisiana, the staff of Northwest Veterans Home, Bossier City, the Bristol Hospice team for the professional care, treatments, prayers, and friendships shown.
