Eva Carter, age 81, of Haughton, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Eva was born on Friday, January 29, 1943 in Gilbert, Louisiana to the late Cordell and Tina W. MayBerry Dampier. She loved cooking, all things Elvis, and music. Eva enjoyed working crossword puzzles, slots, and going out to eat with family. She retired from Brookshires following twenty-five years of dedicated services. Eva enjoyed her tenure with her Brookshire's family. She loved to gather with others and to travel when she got a chance. In her younger years, Eva spent her days caring for her siblings.
It didn't matter who you were, Eva devoted herself to the care and well-being of those around her. She never met a stranger. Eva couldn't go into a store without running into someone she knew and would strike up conversations. A stranger was simply a friend that Eva hadn't met yet for she loved everyone.
Eva was preceded in passing by her parents, two sons: Roger Carter, Raymond Carter, one brother; Bobby Ray Dampier, and one sister; Ermajean Dampier.
Left to cherish the beautiful memories of Eva will be one daughter; Donna Jeanne Clarke, four sisters: Dinky Smith, Deloris Cherry (Johnny), Connie Sue Porter, Virginia Faye Wyatt, one brother; Cordell Dampier (Gracie Faye), three grandchildren: Christopher Clarke, Nolan Carter, Morgan Carter, along with many extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Gentiva Hospice, Cassie Cordoves, Jerry Smiley, friends, and family for the care provided and condolences expressed during this difficult time.
Services will be held to celebrate Eva's life at 3:00 pm on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends at 2:00 pm prior to service.
