Faye lived a long, beautiful life. She was a force of nature both in her loving kindness and in her fervor for the Lord. She devoted her life to His service using her many talents to honor Him. She sang in the choir at church, with the group Sisters In Praise, and put together countless programs. She could play any instrument she ever picked up and used them to frequently visit the nursing homes and assisted living residents to play music for them and show them love. She played piano for Sunday services at several churches throughout her life.
Faye’s contributions to the world around her were many. She was well-loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, caregiver, teacher, performer, friend, confidante, and disciple for the Lord. She had a gift for making people feel loved and cared for. She commanded the room with dignity and strength wherever she went. She was beloved by her family, friends, students, and community members.
Faye spent many years in education. She was the first person ever hired at Bossier Parish Community College when it opened. She began as the Registrar and ended up transitioning to teaching computer courses. At the time, the computer was brand new, so she wrote the curriculum that was used to teach the program.
Following the death of her first husband, she married David Ray Jones, and they enjoyed 13 years together, traveling and attending gospel music festivals. She also hosted many song fests at her home at Lake Bistineau.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Marcus Robinson; sister, Dot Fernandez; and son-in-law, Cliff Hudson; husband, Douglas Powell; and husband, David Jones.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Mindy Hudson, and Mitzi (Steven Wayne) Mathewes; grandchildren, Lori Hudson (David) Murphy, Danny (Kristin) Hudson, Koty (Jessica) Adams, John Wilson Jr.; great grandchildren, Genevieve and Josephine Murphy, Jase and Grant Hudson, and Rylan Adams.
