
James Stuart Covington, age 59, of Benton, Louisiana passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021 after a long illness. Stuart was born on April 11, 1962 at Barksdale Air Force Base to James E. Covington, Jr. and Anna Lou (Boyd) Covington.
He graduated from Airline High School in 1980 and attended Louisiana Tech in Ruston. He also took courses in electronics and welding at Northwest Louisiana Technical College. Stuart was a Methodist, he read his bible and volunteered his time helping others which included volunteering to build gardens and planting vegetables to help feed families. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, cars and electronics. Stuart was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a dedicated and successful manager in Retail and in the food service industry.
Stuart is survived by his Father, James E. Covington, Jr., and his sister Judith (Judy) Covington Holland, her husband Ben of Shreveport and their two children James Stephen Holland and wife Courtney of Shreveport and Janet Lynne Holland Attaway and husband Kevin of Bossier City. He is also survived by his Great Niece, Emma Kate Attaway and Great Nephew, James (JT) Theodore Holland, plus extended family and friends. So many helped Stuart during his long illness and we are grateful to all.
A visitation for James will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2021 beginning at 1:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 602 Highway 80 East, Haughton, Louisiana 71037. Following the visitation, there will be a graveside funeral service at 2:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Park, 601 Highway 80 East, Haughton, Louisiana 71037.
