

BOSSIER CITY, LA – James “Don” Fields left this earthly life and went to his eternal home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, September 28th after a brief illness. Services to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2014, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Shaun Armstrong, Grace Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. A brief visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Don was born on July 16, 1922, in Shreveport, LA to parents, Morris and Alta Fields. Graduated from Fair Park HS in 1939. He enlisted in the Army in 1941 and his twenty-five plus year military career extended through WWII, Korea, and Vietnam, and finally retirement in 1966, as MSgt. in the U.S. Air Force. Don made his home in Bossier City for the past 49 years and until poor health interfered, he attended worship services at Barksdale Baptist Church where he was a member.
Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Betty L. Fields; and his parents. He leaves behind the second love of his life, his daughter, Vickie Meek and her husband James; along with several cousins, extended family, and friends.
Honoring Mr. Fields as pallbearers are Kyle Hamaoka, Chuck Womack, Rick McDonald, Bayne Lee, Clay Lee, and David Meek. Honorary pallbearer is Mr. Hugh Cates.
Mr. Fields’ family would like to thank Northwest LA War Veterans Home, Dr. Roy Flenniken and the staff of Wing 4, for all of their care, compassion, and support.
