James was born on Saturday, May 29, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan to the proud parents: James and Eva Parsons. Soon after high school, James decided to serve his country by joining the U.S. Air Force. That would prove to be a career decision as well. Mr. Parsons went on to serve 20 years and retire from the Air Force.
He met the love of his life, Carol Smith, and they married June 19, 1971. The Air Force brought Mr. Parsons to Bossier Parish, LA where he ultimately raised a family and retired. Mr. Parsons, referred to by many as: ‘Jim’, enjoyed many things the area offered. He loved to hunt and fish eventually acquiring land on the banks of his picturesque, Lake Bistineau—that became a camp. Then he added on to it. Again and again, until it became their home in paradise. He loved all sorts of sports, namely: The Saints; the sunshine, and the great outdoors. He also had a passion for antique and classic cars, as he had owned prized ’59 Chevy Trucks. However, what Jim loved the most, was his big family! As being addressed to as ‘Jim’, soon became ‘Dad’, and then was most recently changed to: ‘Paw-Paw’.
Mr. Parsons was preceded in death by his parents: James Shane Parsons and Eva Junita Gardner Parsons.
Jim is survived by: his wife, of 48 years, Carol Smith Parsons, his son, Matthew (& Kirsten) Parsons; daughters: Marieka (& Michael) Pickett, and Tina (& Eric) Osborn; grandchildren: Paige, Hanna, Hailey, Grace, Taylor, Christian, Matthew Cole, Shelby, Emma, Jack, Carson, and Liberty; great grandchildren: Hazel, Matthew Waylon, Stella, and Betty.
