Celebration of Life services for Jerry and Sheila Kimmell, will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Northwoods Baptist Church with Brother Brent Shoalmire officiating under the direction of Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Entombment will immediately follow in the Hill Crest Memorial Mausoleum, Haughton, Louisiana. The family will be receiving guests for visitation Wednesday, October 13, 2010 from the hours of 5-8 p.m. at Hill Crest.
Sheila Ann Purdy Kimmell was born December 9, 1957 to Molly Ann Temple Purdy and the late Homer Purdy in Sherwood, Tennessee and Jerry Linn Kimmell was born February 4, 1955 to Gerald and Betty Ruth Bray Kimmell in Brooklyn, New York. Sheila and Jerry were called home together following a tragic motorcycle accident in Hollis Arkansas.
Jerry and Sheila loved the Lord and always enjoyed inviting others to attend with them at their church, Northwoods Baptist Church. They were the proud owners of Southwest Sales and Movers. They traveled the world, enjoyed music, and loved riding their bright, yellow Honda Gold Wing. The true loves of their lives have always been their children and grandchildren. Jerry and Sheila held a deep,compassionate love for each other - you never saw one without the other.
Sheila was preceded in death by her father, Homer Purdy; one son, Michael Bruce Privett and one sister, Rita Purdy. Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved horse, Leezac.
Left to cherish Sheila and Jerry's memories and tell their stories will be their three daughters: Heather Nicole, Toni Lynn, and Millie Kay, and their grandchildren, Arwen Robinson and Keagan James. They are also survived by their mothers: Betty Ruth Bray Kimmell and Molly Ann Temple Purdy; Jerry's father, Gerald Kimmell; Sheila's brother, Randy Purdy; Jerry's two brothers, Don and Allen Kimmell; Sheila's special cousin, Vicky Summers; Sheila's close friend, Donna Sims and Jerry's best friend, Wayne Ebarb, along with numerous extended family members and many great friends.
Honoring Sheila and Jerry as pallbearers will be Don Kimmell, Allen Kimmell, Gray Kimmell, Nathan Akin, Wayne Ebarb, Matt Ebarb, Daniel Chase,Curtis Carrigan, Mark Jowers, Kenny Sims, Dwight Putman, Curtis Carrigan, Mikey Jackson and Joe Permenter.
Memorials may be made to the building fund of Northwoods Baptist Church, 5924 North Market Street, Shreveport, Louisiana, 318-929-3592 in honor of Sheila and Jerry Kimmell.
