

BOSSIER CITY, LA – Funeral services will be held for Jerry Garvin at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel on Saturday, October 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend David Dietzel officiating assisted by Reverend Ashley McGuire. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service.
Jerry was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Bossier City for over fifty years. He was also a member of the Midyett Bible Class and the Palmetto Country Club. He enjoyed hunting and sports in his earlier years. He played football and basketball at Bossier High School and was in the graduating class of 53’. In his later years golfing, family and following his son, Michael’s music career became his hobbies.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Garvin and Hazel Baker Wilson and his brother Richard Baker Wilson.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years Patricia Waller Garvin, son Michael Tarpley Garvin and wife Olivia, granddaughter Maggie Garvin, grandson Peter Garvin, sister Betty Sue Bowman, niece Susan Vines and nephew David Bowman as well as several loving cousins and cherished friends.
Pallbearers will be Bill Gray, Kenneth Hill, J.W. Slack, Roy Underwood, Leon Darden, Jerry Mathews, Billy Heins, and Sam Merritt. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rev. Step Martin and Larry Toms.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dan Moller and the staff of 7 East at Willis Knighton Pierremont for the loving care they gave to Jerry.
