Jessie Juanita Gentry

BENTON LA - Jessie Juanita Gentry of Benton, Louisiana went to be with our Lord on December 27, 2012; born February 6, 1927 in Grundy, Virginia and was the 9th of 12 children to the late John Henry and America Virginia (Hackney) Ratliff of Grundy, Virginia. Mrs. Gentry, “Jay”, was devoted to her family, loved ones, and her warm and loving home. She shared her love of country, family, and travel with everyone she came into contact with. She was preceded in death by her husband Edgar H. Gentry in 1984, and ten of her siblings. She is survived by: her daughter, Sue Gentry of Atlanta, GA; her son, Rick Gentry of Oklahoma City, OK; two grandsons, Todd Wilson of Atlanta, GA and Benjamin Gentry of Oklahoma City, OK; two great-grandsons, Jack and Luke Wilson of Atlanta, GA; one brother Elmer Ratliff (SSgt, US Army, Retired) of Hodgenville, KY; her companion Jim Mess of Benton, LA; and, along with many nieces and nephews. Jay will be missed by everyone who was touched by her love and kindness. Grandchildren will miss the weekly package of cookies and fudge along with her fried chicken, green beans, and chocolate cake. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Park in Haughton, LA; Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 31, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. also at Hill Crest Memorial Park with interment immediately following service.
