Col. John W. Sundquist ,USAF (Ret.)

Col. John W. Sundquist retired, left this mortal Earth on Thursday July 20, 2017. He led a full and adventurous life. He was born January 31, 1933 in Chicago, IL. He served 22 years in the United States Air Force as a pilot flying B-52s. After serving at numerous duty stations in the U.S. and around the world, he retired in 1976 from Offutt AFB, NE and settled with his wife and two children.

After retirement, his focus was on his loving wife, as well as their precious chosen children, Shane & Julie.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Clara Sundquist. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Geraldine “Jeri” Sundquist of 62 years, his sister Mary Lofton & husband Richard of Riverside, IL, their son John S. Sundquist & wife Sheri of Shreveport, their daughter Julia S. Small & husband Robert of Lufkin, TX; their grandchildren, Amanda B. Croitz & husband Bryan, Justin S. Sundquist & wife Gabby and Nathan Small; and three great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as a host of friends and loved ones. He is also survived by a special woman by the name of Geraldine Horton, who has spent numerous years caring for his beloved wife, who has become more than a caregiver, and more like family.

He will be laid to rest on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Hill Crest. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 10 AM, with services following, with full military honors.
