John Lawrence Swilley, III

John was born October 4, 1969, in Homer, Louisiana, to John and Helen Swilley, Jr.

John loved the outdoors. He could patiently sit all day and evening fishing, trying to catch the big one. He loved to sit, out on the patio, listening to all his favorite music. He loved hanging out with family and friends, collecting ringers, and the loved to play horseshoes. John was the champ on the horseshoe court. When he hit a ringer, it was like 'Ringin’ a bell' : “Clang, Clang”. And of course, John made Holly address him as: “The Horseshoe Champ”.

He had the entrepreneurial spirit, as he owned his own painting company for years to provide for his family and be his own boss.

Left to cherish his memory are: his adoring wife, Holly Christina Swilley; daughters, Paige (& Josh) Bates, Abbey (& Bo) Waites, Lacey Clark, and Emiley Clark; son Justin Swilley: grandchildren, Aidyn, Adleigh, Alstyn, Ada Jane, Brantley, Anna, Ryder, Jayde, Bennett, Marlee, Pyper; parents, John and Helen Swilley; in-laws, Randy (& Tracie) White, Kathy (& Mark) Stickland ; nephew Rick Beavers; along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In his honor, the family is hosting a Gathering of Family and friends between 8:30 am – 11:30 am, Tuesday, August 16, 2022, within the State Room of Hill Crest Memorial in Haughton, Louisiana.

Will be dearly missed, but always held in our hearts.
