

BOSSIER CITY, LA – Mr. Johnny A. Tuminello, 88, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2012. Visitation will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 US Hwy 80 East in Haughton on Sunday, February 19, 2012, from 3pm until 5 pm followed by a vigil service at 5pm. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2 pm on Monday, February 20, 2012, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 3800 Viking Drive in Bossier City. Celebrating the mass will be Fr. Pike Thomas, Msgr. Carson LaCaze and Msgr. Earl V. Provenza. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home with military rites conducted by the 12th District, Dept. of LA, Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard.
Mr. Tuminello was a native of Shreveport and a resident of Bossier City for 65 years. He was a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He graduated from Fair Park High School and served his country in the United States Army from which he was honorably discharged and earned a Purple Heart. He began his career as a meat cutter and market manager at A&P Supermarket. He later owned and operated several family grocery stores in Shreveport, Bossier, and Benton before his retirement.
Mr. Tuminello was preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Ernestine Tuminello; sister, Josephine Tuminello-Cannon, husband J.D.; brother-in-law, Jimmy Talley; and two daughters, Christine Tuminello-LeGrand, and CynthiaTuminello.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65years, Mary Elizabeth Bonomo-Tuminello; two daughters, Vickie Tuminello-Williams, husband Kenny, Martha Tuminello-Peters, husband Mark; sister, Chetta Tuminello-Talley; brother, Joe Tuminello, wife Mary; grandchildren, Lisa LeGrand-Aguirre, Tiffany LeGrand-Joyner, husband Sean, Shawn McCalister, Angela McCalister-Burcham, husband Matt, Michael McCalister, Nick Peters, wife Lindsay, Brant Peters, Erica Marzec, husband Eric; great grandchildren, Landon and Isabella Joyner, Ainsley Burcham, Stella Peters, and Emma Marzec.
Pallbearers will be Shawn and Michael McCalister, Nick and Brant Peters, Jay Tuminello and Michael Cannon. Honorary pallbearers will be John M. LeGrand, Jr., Kenny Williams, Mark Peters, Sean Joyner, Matt Burcham, Eric Marzec, Don Macha, Dominick Tuminello, Emile Tuminello, Vince Maggio, Chris Marsiglia and John Bonomo.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Lambert, Dr. Rodsuwan and the ICU nurses and staff at Willis-Knighton Bossier for their kindness and compassion while administering care for their loved one.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Jude Catholic Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Johnny most cherished spending time with his family and friends, and he never missed an opportunity to discuss his passion for college baseball and, more specifically, his LSU Tigers. Johnny’s statement: “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.”
