

Karen Marie Avery, age 63, of Haughton, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025. She was born on Tuesday, October 24, 1961 in Alexandria, Louisiana to Troy and Isabelle (Richard) Moore. Karen grew up in the Air Force Military lifestyle. She graduated with the class of 1979 from Bossier High School. Karen worked at Northwest State School in Louisiana for the disabled earning her licensure and certification. She was a Receptionist with Highland Clinic in Shreveport, Louisiana and went on to work with two year olds as a Nursery Assistant and Teacher at Asbury Ark Academy in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Karen's greatest accomplishments in life was her daughter Taylor and her granddaughter River.
She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, baking, collecting antique dolls, taking care of her fur babies, and spending time with her beloved family.
She was preceded in death by her parent's, Troy and Isabelle Moore; great-niece, Isabelle Miramontz; great-nephew, Jesse Blackbourne, Jr. and brother-in-law, Joseph Brown; nephew, Jason Perry Moore.
Left to cherish Karen's memory are her daughter, Taylor Avery (Patrick); grandchild, River Jennings; sister, Kathy Brown, brother, Gary Moore (Christine); Aunt, Martha Castille; Niece's, Angie Blackbourne (Jesse); Kayse Dinger (David), Shari Murphy; nephews, Jody Brown (Lee), Daniel Moore and Robert Moore; great-nieces, Jordan Fergurson, Alyssa Brown, Karly Moore, Michaela Moore, Lillith Blackbourne; great-nephews, William Fergurson, Joseph Miramontz, Jody Brown, Jr., Xavier Blackbourne; great great niece, Eileigh Jenkins and nephew, Luca Jenkins.
Karen will be missed by many cousins, friends and her faithful dog GG.
The family would like to extend gratitude to the healthcare staff at Highland Hospital, Willis Knighton Bossier Hospital, Pilgrim Manor, Robert Brown, NP Minden Medical Center of Haughton, Louisiana for the professional care, attentiveness, and providing needs to Karen. A special thank you to Reverend Amy Hollis of Believers Worship Center in Benton, Louisiana and Monsignor Matthew Long of St. Jude's Catholic Church of Benton, Louisiana for all of the visits, prayers, and established friendships through the years.
