

BOSSIER CITY, LA – A Celebration of Life service will be held for Laurie McKinney at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Hill Crest Funeral Home. Pastor Joey Ketchum of Western Hills Baptist Church will officiate. The family will receive friends at Hill Crest Funeral Home for a time of visitation from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.
Laurie was born to Nicholas and Jaqueline Bixby on January 5, 1967 in Memphis, TN. She passed from this life on September 25, 2017 after a year long battle with her health.
Laurie married Cecil McKinney and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She enjoyed a variety of activities involving her close friends and family. Those activities included camping, hunting, and fishing. Laurie also enjoyed riding four wheelers. Those who knew Laurie know what a good cook she was. Fried pork chops, brown gravy, and beef tips and rice were among her most famous dishes.
Laurie is preceded in death by her mother. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Cecil; her father; her sons, Jacob Core, Matthew Core, Josh Bixby; her stepson, Ryan McKinney; her daughter, Emily Bixby; her stepdaughter, Ashley Tarravella; her brothers, Sam Bixby, Nick Bixby, and David Bixby; her grandchildren, Michael McKinney, Bailey Tarravella, and Joe Tarravella.
Honoring Laurie as pallbearers will be Jacob Core, Matthew Core, Ryan McKinney, Sam Bixby, Nick Bixby, and Billy Woods.
