Linda Jo Horton, 83, of Benton, Louisiana, was called to her Heavenly home on December 14, 2025, following a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was born on May 24, 1942, in Champaign, Illinois, to the late Robert MacDonald and Leona Lovetta Johnson.
Linda graduated from the former St. Vincent Academy in Shreveport. She dedicated many of her years working at the Natchitoches Parish Courthouse. During her years in Natchitoches, she formed lifelong friendships and found great joy in sewing, and creating lasting memories while playing mahjong with her friends.
Throughout her life, she was deeply caring and steadfast, always placing her family and friends at the center of her heart. She always looked forward to having her grandchildren for a week during the summer in Natchitoches. Linda looked forward to spending time with them riding down Cane River, playing board games, swimming, and sewing.
Linda was a faithful member of Cypress Baptist Church, where she especially loved her Sunday School class and the fellowship it brought. Her faith guided her life and was a source of strength to her and those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Charles Edward Horton Jr.; and her son, Kevin Horton.
Linda is survived by her son, Tim Horton and his wife Kara;sister, Darlene Qualye and husband Bob; brother, Robert Johnson; one sister-in-law, Lou Martin; five grandchildren: Heather Juarrero and husband Spencer, Conner Horton and wife Hannah, Cameron Horton and wife Macie, Cole Horton and Caroline Horton, two great-grandchildren: Aspen and Dillon Juarrero, and Blaire Marie Horton (our bundle of joy on the way), many extended family members and numerous wonderful friends. She will be missed by her loyal fur baby, her cat, Pepper.
The family would like to extend gratitude to Rick and Deborah Berry, Sr. Pastor Tommy Patton, Rick and Shelia Slaton, and the Cypress Baptist Church family for the friendships, continued prayers, compassion, and condolences expressed during this heartfelt time.
Linda Jo Horton will be remembered by the way she exemplified loyalty, strength, and a warmth that made everyone around her feel seen and valued.
