

SHREVEPORT, LA – Lois Braswell Jackson, age 90 passed away on November 9th, 2015. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 13th, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel in Haughton, LA with Rev. Dr. Carl Rhoads officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
Lois was born December 7th, 1924 in Hamilton, Alabama to Grover and Madge Owen. At 2 years old, her family moved to DeKalb, Texas where she was raised. On September 11th, 1940 she married Jack Braswell and moved to Shreveport. She has resided in the Shreveport/Bossier City area since. Lois worked as a cosmetologist for several drug stores for over 40 years with the majority being at Tom Peyton’s two stores, and Lewis Youree Drug where she retired. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority for over 50 years. Lois belonged to Bossier Mother’s Club and was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Shreveport. She was also a member of the Maida Mickle Sunday School Class and the Eternal Flame at First UMC of Shreveport. She enjoyed her neighborhood Domino group and Bunco group. Her very favorite thing to do was work in her yard which she called her therapy. She loved and enjoyed being with her friends and especially family.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Madge and Grover Owen; sister, Clara Lou Atchley; husbands, Jack Braswell and John S. Jackson; and friend, Melvin Regan. She is survived by her son, Eddie Braswell and wife, Elsie of Shreveport, LA; stepsons, Jack Jackson and wife, Marla of Arlington, TX; and John M. Jackson and wife, Jana of Woodland Hills, CA; grandchildren, Jennifer Braswell Christy and husband, Micah of Birmingham, AL; Jason Braswell and wife, Melissa of Tyler, TX; step-grandchildren, Anna and Sara Jackson of Arlington, TX; Mary Jackson Wiley and husband Mitch of Fayetteville, AR; Kate Jackson of Woodland Hills, CA; Conor Jackson of Phoenix, AZ; great-grandson, Camden Braswell of Tyler, TX; and great step-grandchildren, Kyle, Megan, and Meredith Guthrie of Fayetteville, AR.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorials be made to the Eternal Flame at First United Methodist Church of Shreveport or the Church/Charity of your choice.
