Louise Richey of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2019, at the age of 91. Memaw, as she was affectionately called by her family, was dearly loved by many. She was born in Homer, Louisiana, on November 26, 1928. She was married to Lee Ward Richey. They were married for 55 years before he passed away on June 2, 2006.
She earned a nursing degree at Highland Clinic in Shreveport. They moved their family to Shreveport in 1966. After raising her children, Louise went back to work as a Dialysis Nurse at Willis-Knighton. Her dedication and care for her family extended into her care for her patients.
Without a doubt, family was the number one priority in her life. Sacrificially, she poured her life into her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spent countless hours in carpool lines, attending school events, being present at athletic events, anything and everything that concerned her family. Her grandchildren cherished and depended on the open door to her home and to her heart. They knew they could count on her support as they could count on finding cokes in the fridge or a tub of Blue Bell Vanilla Ice Cream in the freezer. Her most treasured moments were when all of the family were together. Her commitment to family is the legacy she leaves behind to her loved ones.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son and two daughters, Stephen Richey of Dallas, TX, Marsha Dupree and husband Jim of Shreveport, LA, and Cindy Carter and husband Alan of Shreveport, LA; five grandchildren: Zachary Richey and wife Dusty and children, Isabella and Luke of Heartland, TX; Megan Dupree of Shreveport, LA; Jay Dupree of Twenty Nine Palms, CA; Ryan Carter and wife Margaret and daughter Claire of Lake Charles, LA; Trey Carter and wife Virginia and children Marion and Asher of Shreveport, LA; Brooke Axsom and husband Stephen and children, Charlotte and Rosalind of Dallas, TX.
Services to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 23, 2019, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
