Mary served as a substitute teacher in Haughton schools, where she cared deeply for both students and staff, offering steady support and a gracious spirit.
She enjoyed gardening and bowling, and it was through bowling that she met the love of her life, Jimmy. Mary cherished family gatherings and reunions, where she was affectionately known by some as “Snookie.” She found her greatest joy in spending time with those she loved most.
Mary built lasting friendships throughout the Haughton community and was a devoted member of her church family at First Baptist Haughton.
Quick-witted and always ready with a laugh, Mary had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. Above all, she loved her family. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched through her warmth, devotion, and steadfast love.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Howard Wright Tyndall Sr., and her mother, Emma Elaine (Boddie) Tyndall.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Dale Tidwell, Sr.; her children, Jimmy Dale Tidwell, Jr. (Lois), Howard Len Tidwell (Michelle), and Shannon Elizabeth Shipman; her grandchildren, Heather Elliott (Bryan), Cody Tidwell (Kayla), Ashley Vaughn (Hunter), Taylor Grisham (Cody), Audrey Tidwell, and Ethan Tidwell; her brother, Howard "Skip" Tyndall, Jr. (Gail); great grandchildren: Brody, Boston, Karter, Barrett, Hudson, Brittyn, Fisher, Tatum, Lawson, Blake, Fielder, Forrest and Sawyer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Gevan Spinney officiating. Interment will follow in the park.
Honoring Mary as pallbearers will be Cody Tidwell, Ethan Tidwell, Bryan Elliott, Hunter Vaughn, Cody Grisham, Trey Tyndall and Greg Tyndall. Honorary pallbearers are her nephews.
The family would like to thank Pastors Gevan Spinney and Jeff Luce for hospital and home visits, and for prayer with Mary, Jimmy, and family. The family also extends sincere gratitude to the hospice nurses, doctors, and the many friends who provided prayers, thoughts, meals, and support through her illness.
