Mike was retired from the US Navy where he worked as a Senior Computer Analyst. He received several awards during his employment including the "Man of the Year" award.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Raymond A. Burns and Doris Scott Burns of Homer, LA.
Mike is survived by one sister, Rebecca Duncan of Prospect, LA; one brother Eddie Burns of Lafayette, LA; three nieces- Whitney Sapp of Colfax, LA, Susan Duke of Prospect, LA, Brandi Burns of Lafayette, LA; 4 great nieces, 2 great nephews, 2 great-great nephews and two lifelong friend companions Tita Mendoza of Gonzales, LA and Maria Mendoza of Metairie, LA.
Services will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home in Haughton, LA on Thursday March 16, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend Scotty Teague officiating. Visitation will be open from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. prior to the services.
