Michael Leroy Miller

SHREVEPORT, LA - Michael Leroy Miller, 55, passed away after a 2 year battle with cancer on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Willis Knighton Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Mike was born on June 10, 1959 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Calvin and Ella Miller. Mike retired from the Shreveport Fire Department as a Captain after 28 years of service. Mike enjoyed spending time with family and friends, mentoring JROTC Cadets, and riding motorcycles. He was also a member of the Brothers Keepers MC and a member of the Masonic Lodge #447 where he achieved Master Mason. Mike had a wonderful sense of humor and there was never a dull moment.

He is preceded in death by his Pop, Calvin L. Miller. Survived by his wife Betty of 30 years, sons Jon-Michael (Rachel) and Jerrod, grandson Morrison, Mother Ella, Brother Russell (Cindy), niece and nephew. A special thanks to lifetime friend Mark Davis.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 6, 2014, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. prior to the service.
