Obituario de Nancy K. Johnson
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home & Park

Nancy “Nan” Kizer Johnson, age 74, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, in Bossier City, Louisiana after battling a lengthy illness.

Born in Lake Charles, La on August 8, 1951, she was the beloved only child of Earl and Dorothy Kizer who raised her in Shreveport. Upon graduating from Woodlawn High School, she continued her education at Northwestern State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Nan embarked on a career of service at the Caddo Parish Health Unit she sparked an idea with a good friend, Jill Munds, to open Cross Stich Corner and Framing in the 1980’s. Following this entrepreneurial adventure, she resumed nursing at the Caddo Parish Health Unit followed by a promotion to state auditor of nursing homes. To put off retirement a little longer, Nan worked part-time as a supervisor for the LSU School of Medicine – Shreveport (now Ochsner LSU Health).

Nan was an active member at Brookwood Baptist Church while living in Shreveport. After moving to Bossier City, she so enjoyed the church family at Eastwood Baptist Church, especially her Sunday School Class and ladies Bible studies.

Nan and Bob shared 35 years of marriage and enjoyed all sorts of travel including camping at state parks in their motorhome, Alaska and Caribbean cruises, touring New England and enjoyed the Amish countryside. However, tops on their favorite get-a-way list for years was Branson, Missouri.

She was utterly delighted to become “Nana” to her grandchildren and savored time with family whether during the holidays or just everyday life. She was witty, intelligent, caring and enjoyed by so many.

Nan was preceded in death by her husband Bob Johnson, her parents, and twin granddaughters Olivia and Caroline Whitman.

Left to cherish her memory are son, Jay Johnson (Lori); daughter, Dawn Whitman (Craig); grandchildren Joshua Johnson (McKenna), Jocee Johnson Lewis (Peyton), Caleb Whitman (Ashley), Lance Whitman, Preston Whitman and great-granddaughter, Thea Whitman.

Nan’s family will privately celebrate her life and give thanks to the Lord for the gift she has been.
