

Nicholas “Papa Nick” ElashewichBossier City, LANicholas M. Elashewich, 79, went home to be with his Lord, Saturday evening, February 6, 2010, after a short battle with cancer. Services celebrating the life of Nicholas M. Elashewich will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 10:00 A.M at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Rev. Sig Kunz of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Hill Crest Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.Nick was born on January 29, 1931 in South River, New Jersey to parents, Catherina (Yellen) and Nicholas Elashewich. Nick served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Following his military career, he worked as a butcher for Brookshire’s for 20 years. Nick was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who loved his family tremendously. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Elva I. Elashewich of Bossier City, LA and his three daughters: Diana Ward, Alaina Houghton-Smith and husband John L. Smith; Nicole and husband Gavin Gordano, all of Bossier City, LA; brother, Raymond Elashewich of Winchester, VA; sister, Sonya Tilp of Edison, NJ. He is also survived by his four grandchildren who were his pride and joy; Fields Gordano and his fiancé’ Nicole Griffin; Garrett Gordano; Mitchell Houghton and Danielle Ward and one great granddaughter, Avery Marie Gordano all of Bossier City, LA.Pallbearers will be: John Smith, Mitchell Houghton, Fields Gordano, Garrett Gordano, Gavin Gordano and Miles Gordano. Honorary pallbearers will be Dillon Moseley, E.J. Davis, Michael Sparrow and Aaron Smith. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to: Immanuel Lutheran Church,2565 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA 71111.
