Oda C. Wilson , 90, passed away on December 20, 2025, at the age of 90. He was born on January 6, 1935 in Peason, LA to James and Camille (Alford) Wilson. Many people knew him as Bro. Odie, Uncle Carrol or just Odie, but to the people who he impacted over the years, he was known as a beacon of strength and faith. If he called you kitten, that meant that he loved you without saying it.
Many front porch conversations consisted of stories of the past and the good ole days. I can remember countless fishing trips, that at the time, I didn’t see what he was teaching or showing me, but later in life I would understand what all those lessons were meant for. Even when he wasn’t with me, he was my conscience because of what he taught me. He taught me that my word and my work ethic meant more than anything else in life. But most of all he taught me that serving God should come first and that loving God should come always. I have never met anyone else in my life that was more dedicated to his faith and his church than he. He taught me how to love without saying it, how to be a leader without seeking leadership and how to believe in myself no matter what anyone thinks or says. He was the best brother, father, uncle and friend. Most of all he was the best Papa anyone could ever ask for. We are better because of you. (Written by grandson, Brad Kent)
