Raymond R. Tillman

Ray was born on January 1, 1930 in Chicago, IL. He joined the Air Force soon after graduating from high school in 1948.While stationed in Japan, Ray met and married the love of his life, Jean.His military service included tours of duty in Japan, New Jersey, Colorado, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, Germany, and Louisiana. In 1978 he retired as Chief Master Sergeant at Barksdale Air Force Base after 30 years of service.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and James Tillman; his brothers, Omar Price and Paul Tillman, and a sister, June Scharf, all from Ohio; and his daughter, June Tillman of Haughton, LA.Ray is survived by Jean Tillman, his devoted wife of 59 years, and four daughters, Patricia Downing (Rockwall, TX); Linda O’Neal and son-in-law Mitch (Haughton, LA); Kathy Miller and son-in-law, Fred (Plano, TX); and Betsy Alegnani (Dallas, TX).Ray is also survived by his eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and niece, Ellen Ramge of Kenton, Ohio.

Visitation services will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, January 6, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.The memorial service will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 10:00 AM with Reverend Keith Adcock officiating.Interment with military honor guard will follow the service. Memorials can also be sent to Love Chapel United Methodist Church in Haughton, LA.
