Richard was born on January 29, 1963 in Callicoon, NY to Buell and Helen (Corcoran) Bortree. He proudly served 26 years in U.S. Air Force and retired March of 2008. He received his Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix June of 2013. On January 5th, 1987, he married Rosario Urbiztondo. They raised one son, Cory, and three daughters, Elena, Eloisa, and Erika.
Richard had a passion for sports and street photography. You can often find his work revolved around Mudbugs Hockey and local sunset locations. He enjoyed relaxing days spent with his loved ones including his wife, ten grandchildren, and his dog named Ziggy. He was known for his humor, his love for chocolate, his strong determination, and his faith in Jesus Christ.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Buell, his mother, Helen, and his sister, Kelly. He is survived by his wife Rosario, his four children, Elena, Eloisa, Cory, and Erika, his grandchildren, Isaiah, Devonric, Jaden, Ella, Bryce, Eli, Gabby, Emily, Elliana, and Enzie, and his brothers, Danny, Buddy, and Brian as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 21st, 2021 at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 2 PM, followed by service at 3PM, concluding with military honors. Flowers may be sent to 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, LA 71037.
