

PRINCETON, LA – Services celebrating the life of Robert Lee McDonald, 79 will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Hill Crest Funeral Home, Haughton, LA officiated by Dr. Gevan Spinney. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Hill Crest Funeral Home.
Robert passed away on Monday, November 2, 2015. He was born in Converse, Louisiana on March 19, 1936. He was a retired from the Caddo Parish Tax Assessors Office. After his retirement he enjoyed full time traveling with his wife Wanda, especially in Colorado where he was a campground host and met many new lifelong friends. He also enjoyed walking his precious daschund, Hattie, and driving her around just because she loved to ride. She was his constant companion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rixey and Gladys McDonald; wife, Wanda Duschel McDonald; son, Donald and grandson, Matthew. Left to cherish his precious memory are his daughter Cheryl “Sissy” Brown and husband Jack; step children, Gary Duke and wife Pam, Gwen Hunt and husband Al, Rene Mancuso and husband Glenn; sisters, Mary Hawthorne, Betty English and husband Don; brothers, Don McDonald and wife Doris, J.T. McDonald and wife Lillian and Jerry W. McDonald. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Josh, Chad, & Scott Brown, Jeffrey & Christon Duke, and Glenn Mancuso.
The family would like to thank all Mr. McDonald’s physicians and their staff, especially Dr. Huan Le, Dr. Cooper Heard, Dr. Ray Smith, the Willis-Knighton Cancer Center, Dr. Sanford Katz and Dr. Maxwell “Chip” McDonald, the Willis-Knighton Hyperbaric & Wound Care, Dr. Steve Kitchings and Dr. Kirk Grantham, as well as Willis-Knighton Progressive Care and Southern Hills Healthcare and Rehab.
