79 of Bossier City, LA passed away at his home on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011. He was born October 3, 1931 in Enterprise, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Wyatt and Carrabelle Andrews; sons, Michael and Jeff Andrews; step-son, David Gibbs; and his loving sister, Joyce Morgan. He is survived by his wife, Betty Gibbs Andrews; sisters, Lanelle Rowe of Panama City, FL and Dorothy Dunn of Ozark, AL; his children, Greg and Lorrie Andrews of Las Vegas, NV and Joe and Cheryl Andrews of Madisonville, LA; step children, Debbie Gibbs, Gina Gibbs, John Gibbs and wife Cindy all of Bossier City, LA and Steve Gibbs and Shari of Doyline, LA; six grandchildren, Erica, Brandon, Drew, and Eric Gibbs; Jennifer, Jordan and Kris Andrews; and two great-grandchildren, Tucker and Conner Gibbs.
Roy was one of the kindest, most thoughtful, gentleman you would ever meet. He always helped others with anything that he could, whether it was money or the shirt off his back. Roy is a born again Christian, so we are happy to know where he is.
Roy attended college at Auburn University for his undergraduate degree and the University of Alabama for his Doctorate of Dentistry. He specialized (and was at one time) the only Board Certified Prosthodontist in the Ark-La-Tex. He was in private practice in Geneva, AL from 1958 to 1964 when he joined the U.S.A.F. He retired from the U.S. Air force with 20 years of service as a Colonel while stationed at Barksdale AFB.
Funeral services for Roy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Roy’s wishes were to be cremated.
