

Ruth Francis Brown Brown was born in Shreveport Louisiana on March 17, 1937 to Eva Jennings Brown and Frances Lee Brown. After an extended illness, she went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 27, 2025, in Monroe, LA.
Ruth was raised in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana and married Ira Langley Brown on April 12,1958.
Ira spent 20 years in the USAF with Ruth moving many times with him setting up homes across the country for he and their two daughters. They were stationed in Wyoming, Florida, Washington, California, Texas & Louisiana. Ira spent seven tours of duty in Guam, Thailand and South Vietnam during the Vietnam war. Ruth and their two daughters returned to Louisiana each time to await his return. Ruth was married to Ira for over 50 years until his death in November, 2008. Ruth was a member of Airline Baptist Church in Bossier City until her move to Monroe . In addition, Ruth served in many churches across the country during the family’s Air Force years teaching bible studies and serving as a leader in many capacities She was a bible study leader and participant in Bible Study Fellowship. Ruth loved to paint, crochet and was an excellent seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira L Brown; her parents, Francis and Eva Brown; sisters, Gloria Green (Harold), Murlene Ponder (Maurice), Ann Dewoise Brown; and infant brother, Jackie Brown. She is also preceded in death by her in-laws, Mollie and Ezra Brown; and brothers-in-law, Douglas Brown (Martha), Travis Brown (Loraine), Donnell Bell, Bill Roberts, Jackie Dendy, and Jody Crouch.
She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Spann of Bossier City and Denise Gullatt and husband Dr. Thomas Gullatt of Monroe, LA. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Jennifer Gillum and husband Stephen, Emily Byrd and husband Taylor, Andrew Brawley and wife Asia, Dr Ryan Gullatt and wife Morgan, and Faith Ruchti. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren. She was also delighted to know two other great grandchildren will soon be born. She is also survived by sisters, LaVerne Bell, Sharon Roberts and brothers, Glen Brown (Virginia), Charles Brown (Judy), Cecil Brown; sister-in-law, Bennie Crouch and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home at 2:00 pm Sunday, February 2, 2025 with a Visitation preceding at 1:00 pm at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Hill Crest Park. Officiating the services will be Rev. Warren Eckhardt, Associate Pastor of North Monroe Baptist Church. Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to: Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, Samaritan’s Purse or North Monroe Baptist Church Senior Adult Ministry (Monroe, LA).
