Born May, 11, 1947 to Lausta Powell and Raymond Richard Cook Sr. in Beeville, Texas, Sally became a doctor of Philosophy and obtained her Master of Science for Nursing. She went on to become a certified nurse midwife and then became a professor of Nursing at Northwestern. Sally ended her career had a faculty member at Louisiana State University School of Medicine. Sally loved her cats and surrounding herself with beautiful things. She was a loyal friend to everyone in her circle. She gave selflessly to her community, church and family.
Sally joins in Heaven her parents; Sister, Merry Cook; Brother, Richard Cook, Jr; and Sister-in-law, Lila Jo Cook.
Left to cherish her memory is her nephew, Brad Alan Cook and his daughter, Jordan Taylor Cook; niece, Dr. Ann Cook McLeod and her husband, Bill; niece, Kim Macy and her husband Ralph; her very dear friends Kathy Julian, Martha Patten, Lora Todd, Susan Pierce, Connie Thurman, and Judy Kidd; and countless other special people who have served her in this life.
Services for Sally will held Tuesday, March 19, 2024 beginning at 2pm at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home officiated by Glynn Pope. Visitation will be held prior to services Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 1pm until 2pm. Interment will immediately follow services at Roseneath Cemetery.
Honoring Sally as pallbearers will be Brad Cook, Bill McLeod, Ralph Macy, Many Ballard, Drake May and Aaron Wolfe.
In lieu of flowers the family ask for donation to be made in Sally's honor to Louisiana Methodist Children's Home or PetSavers Animal Rescue.
