Shaila “Shay” Kendall Spataro, 79, of Haughton, Louisiana, was born on November 3, 1946, and passed away on May 20, 2026. She will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who knew her, for a life marked by devotion to those she loved and a steady, compassionate presence that made others feel cared for and seen.
Shay served her community as a bus driver for Bossier Parish Schools, a role that reflected her dependable spirit and the quiet dedication she brought to everyday responsibilities. In work and in life, she carried herself with the kind of care that is measured not by grand gestures, but by constancy, patience, and the sincere attention given to others. She loved her Country and was a Patriot through and through.
Those closest to Shay knew that family always came first. She cherished time spent together—especially holiday gatherings filled with cooking, conversation, and the warmth of friends and loved ones sharing the same table. She delighted in traveling to Arkansas with her family to hike and visit waterfalls, and she loved trips to Florida to visit her mom, sister, and the beaches. Her creativity also found expression in painting, scrapbooking, and creating ceramics—simple joys that spoke to a thoughtful, caring heart. She also treasured watching the New Orleans Saints play football with her sons and grandson, moments that became part of the family’s shared memories.
Shay is survived by her three sons, Sean Michael Lane and wife Mary, Charles “Trey” Vincent Spataro III, and Kendall Ryan Spataro and wife Sophie, grandson, Jackson David Spataro, and brother, Lynn Kendall and wife Kathy.
Shay was preceded in death by her husband Charles “Sonny” Spataro, Jr.; father, Harold Kendall; mother, Elenore Jean Kendall; and sister, Annetta Sue Kendall.
Her memory will remain a blessing—held close in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate to share in her life. The family will hold on to these cherished memories fiercely but have chosen not to have a formal memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to one of the following military organizations as she was a fervent supporter of our Nation’s Military as her father, brother, sons, and daughters-in-law are Veterans.
