

Sharon Kay (Covert) Henderson, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home at 1908 Honeytree Trail in Haughton, LA, on April 2nd, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was 75 years old.
Sharon was born on April 12, 1947, in Herrin, IL, to Thomas Eugene Covert and Violet Corinne (Wallace) Covert. She grew up with her siblings, Dennis, Ronald, and David, and shared a special interest with her brother Dennis, with whom she dreamed of opening a dance school with.
Sharon married Terry Wayne Henderson, the love of her life, and together they shared 55 years of marriage. They were blessed with two children, Matthew W Henderson and Barbara K (Henderson) Mathis, whom she raised with pride and joy. Sharon was also a loving grandmother to her three grandchildren, Connor Henderson, Brady Mathis, and Hope Mathis, and cherished her close relationships with them.
Sharon loved music, and one of her favorite songs was "Driving My Life Away" by Eddie Rabbit. She enjoyed playing games and cards with her family, with Nertz being her favorite game, and spent her free time reading books and doing puzzles with her family members. Many of those puzzles have been framed, making them keepsakes that will be treasured forever.
Sharon's proudest moments were raising her children and having close relationships with her grandchildren. She and Terry also enjoyed a family cruise in 2020, which was one of her favorite memories. Another fond memory was a trip to Hawaii during Terry's R&R from the army.
Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Eugene Covert, her mother, Violet Corinne (Wallace) Covert, and her brothers, Dennis Covert and Ronald Covert.
She is survived by her husband, Terry Wayne Henderson, her brother David Covert, her son Matthew W Henderson, her daughter Barbara K (Henderson) Mathis and husband Justin M Mathis, and her three grandchildren. She is also survived by many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Sharon will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her spirit, kindness, and love will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
