

Stephanie Welton Mason is survived by her husband of 63 years Alan C. Mason; daughters: Renee Parker (Dan), Susan Roberts (Jay); grandchildren Billy Parker, Daniyele Simmons, CJ Roberts, Cory Roberts, Cayla Roberts; and great grandchildren: Tesla Putnam, Lincoln Putnam, Hunter Simmons, & Rainah Bell; sisters: Melva Bible (Richard), & Dee Richardson, along with a number of nephews and nieces.
Stephanie was born February 19, 1941, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to the late Melvin M. Welton & the late Anna Mae Long Welton. Following a 175 day battle, Stephanie passed in Shreveport at the age of 83 years & 12 days. Stephanie had resided in Aiken & Columbia, SC; Syracuse, NY; Waco, TX; Soest, Netherlands; Honolulu, HI; Alexandria, VA; Andrews Air Force Base, MD; Cheyenne, WY; & Huntsville, AL; before settling in Bossier Parish, Louisiana in 2001. As an Air Force wife, Stephanie served in Family Services, American Red Cross, & Officer’s Wives Clubs. Throughout her life, she witnessed for the Lord with a life of service. In Bossier, Stephanie was a cofounder of Christian Action Ministry {helping families in need & others whose homes had burned}, served in local food banks & ACTION, the sheriff’s auxiliary: feeding the hungry & Operation Christmas. Something Stephanie often said was “Always take the trip,” & she traveled extensively in her life, visiting all 50 states & 30+ countries. Stephanie has now taken her final trip, into the arms of Jesus, where she is pain free & filled with joy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
A celebration of her life will be held at 12 noon, on Monday, March 18, at Asbury UMC on Airline Drive in Bossier, with Reverend Hank Hamilton officiating.
