

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Walter Emil Stopak was born July 11, 1924 in Fullerton, Nebraska to Ann Moritz and Gregory Stopak. He died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 after a lengthy illness. Funeral services for him will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel in Haughton, LA on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 11:00 AM. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 AM until time of service. Officiating the service will be Bro. David Dietzel, Walter's beloved pastor and friend of the First United Methodist Church of Bossier City, where he was a member. Assisting will be Bro. Bill Eisle, another beloved friend and pastor. Presenting the eulogy will be Walter's son-in-law, Raymond Walter (Skip) Kordas, Jr.; Walter's right hand.
The pallbearers will be Matthew Marshall, Joey Young, Justin Bennett, Jeffrey Bennett, Austin Beckett, and Michael Yorba, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are the Men's Bible Class from the First United Methodist Church and Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Leuter.
A private burial service will be held later in the day in Marshall, TX at Colonial Gardens Cemetery.
Walter was a true American patriot having served in the World War II, Vietnam, and Korea. He retired after serving 21 years in the U.S. Air Force, and then worked and retired from the Bossier Parish School Board. He was also member of the Martin McClahanan Masonic Lodge #384.

In addition to his parents and seven siblings, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hallie Bee Stopak. He is survived by his wife, Helen Nunnally Stopak and other family members including; Wanda and Bo Bennett; Tana, Kevin, Brian Roy, Brittany and Greg Duyka; Jenny and Joey Young; Jonathan and Jessica Machen; Lori, John, Jordan, J.J. and Matthew Marshal; Erin and Skip Kordas; John David and Jackson Carrier; Jeffrey, Sherry and Justin Bennett; Mike, Sherrie and Michael Yorba; Ashley Andre', Owen, and Mary-Avery Rodrique; Tracy, Kedrick, Taylor, and Austin Beckett.
He was a kind and caring man, who loved his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
