I couldn't have asked for a better Grandpa then him. I love you always and forever Grandpa.

I just wanted to say I did not know W.T. well, but Ruby is my mother's first cousin. They both grew up in the Wallace Community. George Bridges was my Great Uncle. My mom is John & Annie Mae Bridges oldest daughter, Johnnie Bridges Cole. She would love to see Ruby, as I talked to her this morning at The Guest House, the nursing home where she now resides. She remembers her well as well as W.T. & she sends her condolences & prayers. Wished I could've taken off work today, as I would have loved to seen my long-lost relatives. My thoughts & prayers are with you today & always.

Kenny, I never knew your Daddy, but I recall some of the stories you've told over the years about the fishing trips. It is obvious that you, your Daddy and your brother held a very special relationship. I can identify with that, and I was very saddened to hear of his death.

I began that part of my life without my Daddy six years go. I doesn't get easier.
I miss him every day. But my memories of all those moments with him when we "weren't just fishing" comfort me, and I can smile when I realize he is no longer suffering.

I hope that you and your family can smile too, and know that it's not a cliche, Kenny. Your Daddy is no longer suffering and he IS in a better place.

TOMMY AND FAMILY:  I am so sorry about your dad and wish I could be in attendance at his funeral.  I will be thinking about you at this time, and my prayers are with your entire family.

 Kenny, I was very sorry to hear about your dad. My dad and I cut his hair for many years at Barksdale and then he followed me off base. Fishing was always the topic of discussion with him and I when he would come by the barbershop. I'll miss him.

I only knew your dad for a short while, but the time I did spend with him, it was obvious his love for you. His love of the outdoors was something he shared with you and I know it created a special bond between the two of you that will be hard to replace. Rest assured he will have the boat full of gas, the batteries charged, and the fish located when you get there. It will be a joyous day. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another. 

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Walter T. (Willie) Williams our “Brother-in-Arms”.   To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Willie.   And to Willie it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during the Korean and Vietnam Wars while serving in the U.S. Air Force.  Willie, we bid you a sad farewell.  You will be dearly missed from among our ranks.  Be at Ease.  Rest in Peace.

I am so sorry for your loss. I never met Mr. Williams but his special niece, Ruth Luper, is my best friend of almost 50 years. She spoke of him often and with great love (she called him WT) so I feel like I knew a lot about him and his family.
