

BENTON, LA- Services for William “Bill” Pittman Jr., 85, will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Dana Casey officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors form 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Hill Crest Funeral Home.
William was born on September 5, 1928 and passed away gracefully at his home in Benton on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. After high school he answered the call of his country and joined the United States Air force serving four years. After leaving the Air Force he went to work for the Bossier City Police Department as a patrolman. During the 20 years he spent with the police department, he served in various capacities including patrol and detectives retiring as a Captain.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William James Pittman Sr. and Lilly Sanders Pittman; brothers, Haywood, Omax, Burnell and Kenny Pittman. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Peggy Pittman; sons, Kirk Matthews and wife Corine, Barry Pittman and wife Janis; daughters, Sharon Chandler and husband Jesse and Lisa Stephens; sisters, Elizabeth Horne and husband James and Mae Millis and husband Jim; brothers, Leslie Pittman and Marvin Pittman and wife Betty. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
