The Final Salute
	
“Brothers and Sisters-in-Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another. 

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to William Price Citty, Jr. our “Brother-in-Arms”.   To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Price.   To Price it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during the Vietnam War while serving 20 years as a ‘Crew Chief” in the U.S. Air Force.  Price, we commend you for your honorable military career.  You are a true patriot, who served your nation and your community with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country.  You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell.  You will be dearly missed from among our ranks.  GOD Bless you. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.

Poppa Citty was one of the most stubborn yet caring man I have ever met and left a lasting impression on the lives of everyone that crossed his path.  He will be deeply missed and never forgotten. 

If you grew up around haughton or knew Stephanie Citty Bass growing up then you knew Pop. Pop was there for every event at school, volunteering his time to help with JROTC events and so much more. When I met Steph, Pop made me turn around and walk out the door of his house. After I walked out he said “come back in now, now your family. Here’s the fridge, there’s the stove, foods in the pantry. Your on your own kid”. I spent a lot of my junior and senior year at Steph’s and not once did momma and pop cut me any slack😂. They treated me like their own. Helped teach me how to drive, told me when I needed to get my life together, and told me how proud they were when I was doing my best. Momma and Pop have been a huge part of my life for the last 17 years and I couldn’t imagine it any different!! 

Wednesday I got the call that Pop got his wings. While I know he’s not in pain anymore and he’s getting to live his best life he definitely took apart of my heart with him. I have so many memories with him in it and I will cherish those! He was like another dad to me. Heaven definitely got an amazing angel yesterday!! We will miss you Poppa Citty!!! Give em hell!

I never got to spend much time with my uncle price but what i do remember is he was always smiling. I always remember when I would come over it had always been months if not longer since we had seen each other and he would always make jokes about chopping me down at the knees because I was getting taller and taller he will be missed. I love you uncle price your in good hands now.

Pop met me as a 13 year old kid that just moved from California to Louisiana and called me son every time we spoke. What he didn’t know is how much that meant to me. He watched me grow up, join the military, start a family and I will miss having our conversations every time I was home. He accepted everyone that came over and treated them like family. I will truly miss him!!
