Bill was born on February 18, 1936 in Knoxville, TN to Edward F. and Mary (Hackney) Johnson. He was a Vietnam veteran and served in the Air Force for over 20 years. He was a pilot and proudly trained many soldiers in flight.
After retirement, Bill enjoyed car racing. He was an avid fan and enjoyed watching the races when he could.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Virginia Johnson.
Bill is survived by his wife, Judy Kay Johnson; brother, Wylie Johnson and wife Sandy; son, Gary Wayne Johnson and wife Karengay; four grandsons; numerous great grandchildren; step-sons, Derrick Wilson and Frank Wilson and wife, Rebecca and their families.
A visitation was held to celebrate Bill's life in Haughton, LA on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.
Services will be held in Knoxville, TN . Interment with military honors will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville, TN.
