Funeral services for Mr. William C. "Bill" Norris will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. The service will be officiated by BAFB Chaplain. Interment will be at Hill Crest Memorial Park following the service with full Military Honors. The graveside service will be officiated by Rev. Scott Adams, Pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church. Visitation will be on Monday, April 18, 2011 at Hillcrest Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
Mr. Norris passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. He was 77 years old. Born in Andalusia, Alabama, Mr. Norris joined the Air Force in 1952. He retired to Barksdale AFB in 1973 after serving his country for 20 years. He was a Vietnam Era Veteran with the greater part of his military service as a Boom Operator about KC-135's. After retiring from military service, he attended Vo-Tec's Conditioning/Refrigeration program and eventually opened his own business at the corner of St. Charles and Barksdale Blvd. The business was moved to Garden Street and Barksdale Blvd. after a few years. Mr. Norris was also a bus driver for Bossier Parish Schools and retired in 2004.
"Bill" had many friends in Bossier City. He was not one to know a stranger or to pass up someone in need. There were elderly people in the area in the area that he checked up on and did work for free of charges.
Mr. Norris is preceded in death by his wife, Treva Joan Norris and two sons, Terrell Scott Norris and William Earl Norris.
He is survived by his daughter Susan Yarbrough and husband Thomas, sons Dennis B. Norris and wife Terri and Ronald D. Norris and wife Rhonda; grandchildren Marc W. Blackwelder and wife Lane, Dallas J. Ramsey, Laci Jo Mayfield and husband Kirby, Logan B. Norris and Dalton Gage Norris; great-grandchildren Canden E. Mayfield, Jacob A. Blackwelder and Kylee Jo Mayfield, brothers Thomas O. Norris and wife Nancy, Quitman D. Norris, and sister Kathleen Fraizer, all of Pensacola, FL. and numerous nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.
Pallbearers will be Marc Blackwelder, Logan Norris, Stoney Brewer, Kirby Mayfield, Roger Strength, and Mike Cole.
