

William Preston Witt Sr., known affectionately as Bill, or Preston by his family, passed away on February 14, 2026, at the age of 58. Bill was born on March 1, 1967, and was raised in Bon Secour, AL. He graduated from Foley High School and subsequently joined the Air Force, where he was stationed in Italy. Bill graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Nursing College at Northwestern State University.
Bill dedicated 23 years of his career to Willis Knighton, where he was honored multiple times as Nurse of the Year. His commitment and dedication to his profession were widely recognized and appreciated by colleagues and patients alike.
In his personal life, Bill welcomed his sons Will and Zack with their mother, Sonya, in 1992 and 1995, respectively. He was a dedicated father who enjoyed taking them for rides, camping, boating and creating cherished memories. He was a loving husband to Laura and affectionate stepfather to Tiffany, Lacey and Samantha. Last year, he had the joy of welcoming his first grandbaby Preston, who knew him as "Pop Pop."
Bill was a man of many interests. He loved to travel, specifically cruising with Laura, spending time on the water, watching Alabama football, smoking meats on the grill and rooting against Auburn. His adventurous spirit and love for life were evident in all that he did.
Bill will be remembered for his humor and ability to have fun wherever he went. He was beloved, leaving a lasting legacy of joy and laughter. He never knew a stranger and was a radiant presence everywhere he went.
Bill is survived by his wife Laura Witt; sons, William Preston Witt, Jr. (Mollie) and Zachary Thomas Witt and their mother, Sonya; stepdaughters, Samantha (Thomas) Teakell, Lacey (Dillon) Raley and Tiffany Halphen; grandchildren, Preston Jack "PJ" Witt, Valary and Camilla Teakell; mother, Doris Witt-Jones; sister, Cindy Witt; brother, Al (Patti) Witt; niece, Deanna Witt; stepsisters Tammy Porter, Julie (Paul) Peed and Wendy Jones as well as his beloved pet Beaux, and many extended family members and dear friends.
He joins his father, Charles Thomas Witt, Sr. and brother, Charles Thomas Witt, Jr. and stepfather, Lewis "Pawpaw" Jones in Heaven. After his courageous and well-fought battle against cancer, he was warmly welcomed into the open arms of his Savior with the words "Well done my good and faithful servant."
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel, located at 601 Hwy 80, Haughton, Louisiana, 71037. A Celebration of Life will follow at the same venue, commencing at 11:00 am with Dr. Mark Crook officiating.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Kompelli for his love and unwavering support. They also wish to extend their thanks to the staff at Willis Knighton Extended Care, who were more like family to him than mere coworkers, and to the many friends and family who offered their prayers and support.
