

David Burton Jacobson (90) passed away on June 23, 2016. . Born on February 28, 1926 in Worcester, MA, he was the son of Nathan and Frieda Jacobson, both of Latvia. David is survived by his children Michael (Sharon), Neil, and Jodi Anatole (Mark), and his grandchildren Emily and Carter Anatole. He was predeceased by Barbara, his loving wife of 32 years, his parents, brother Arthur and sisters Ruth and Deena. A funeral service will be held at Westchester Reform Temple, Scarsdale, NY on Sunday June 26, 2016 at 12:00 PM.
A graduate of Classical High, David enlisted in the Army Air Corp and completed his education at Brown University. For more than 50 years he worked with his brother, cousins and uncles in a number of family meat-industry businesses, including Idle Wild Foods, a Fortune 500 Company. He excelled at sales and his reputation in the industry permitted him to remain active even after retirement. During his lifetime he also resided in Scarsdale , Palm Beach and Toronto, before moving to Connecticut.
A loving husband and father, he believed in family, hard work, and charity. He was a Men’s Club President and a member of the Temple choir. He believed in tradition and learning from the past. In 1979 he and Mom established the Barbara & David Jacobson Scholar in Residence Fund at Westchester Reform Temple. He and his brother established the Arthur B. & David B. Jacobson Scholar Fund in Brown University’s, Judaic Studies Department.
An excellent athlete, he was an avid golfer in his teens, and a founding member of Brae Burn Country Club, Purchase (NY) . In later years he played tennis, eventually combining his loves of the sport and of Israel by playing on the Senior US Maccabi Tennis Team two years in a row.
