On Thursday, June 8, 2023, Steven Schneidman, an esteemed self-employed tax accountant and a passionate admirer of music, passed away at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
In 2016, Steven received a single lung transplant, and his continued resilience against pulmonary disease afforded him additional cherished years to experience sacred moments with his family and friends, such as the joyous arrivals of his two grandsons, and the opportunity to visit beachside resorts, where he was always at his happiest.
Steven was born on December 22, 1951, in the Bronx, and spent his childhood in New Rochelle, where he returned in his adult years to raise his family. He began his career as a tax accountant at his family’s New-York based accounting firm, Seymour Schneidman and Associates, and then later founded and ran his own firm, Steven Schneidman and Associates.
While numbers were Steven’s profession, music was his soul. From being amongst the historic crowd at Woodstock, to starting his own concert promotion business “Pop Concerts” at Ohio State University where he was a student and brought renowned bands such as Steely Dan, the Beach Boys, Eric Clapton and more to the campus, to attending countless concerts and shows, classic rock was the soundtrack to his wonderful life.
A loving and over-doting father, an attentive husband, a playful Papa, and a loyal friend and brother, Steven is survived by his wife Bette, daughters Sari and Dana, son-in-law Jordan, two grandsons Andrew and Matti, brother and sister Gary and Jill. He will be forever in their hearts.
The family would like to thank the unsung heroes in the Lung Transplant Program and MICU at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for their dedicated care. Donations can be made to the Lung Transplant Project at
