Inie was born in Hayward, WI on August 12, 1922 to Gus B. and Karen Karibalis and grew up in the Hayward area until she relocated to Minneapolis, MN to attend college. Inie attended the University of Minnesota and graduated with honors from the School of Business where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Inie was joined in marriage in June of 1947 to George C. Rehnstrand. Inie and George remained in the Hayward area her entire life, however enjoyed traveling together to various locations. Inie had a love for life. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, cooking gourmet meals, antique shopping and spending time with her husband and family. Inie applied her business degree wisely by co-owning Hayward’s, “Little Guys and Dolls,” with her sister, Kathryn Coogan and sister in law, Ellen L. Karibalis.
Among those who survive and shared her life are her spouse, George Rehnstrand; nephews and nieces, Michael (Jo) Coogan; Curt Karibalis, Jr.; Diane K. (Larry) Nelson; Katie K. (Clark) Sprague and Julia L. Karibalis, (John Meyer).
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gus and Karen Karibalis; siblings, Curtis W. Karibalis; Kathryn Coogan; Judy K. Kammann and in laws, Frances Coogan and Ellen L. Karibalis.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 18th, at Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward, WI with Pastor Scott Ludford officiating. A gathering at Karibalis’ Restaurant followed.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
