He proudly served his county in the United States Navy and was a Veteran of World War II.
Athens enjoyed reading, swimming, deep sea fishing and traveling, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Athens will be truly missed by all who had the honor to have known and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Cecilia McLaughlin; sons, Athens McLaughlin and James McLaughlin; daughter, Theresa Metoyer; brother, Norman McLaughlin; sisters, Anita Parker, Mary Rundson and Joan Ramos; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.
