Bettye Louise Calkins

Bettye Calkins, 86 of Hemet, California passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016, at Hemet Valley Medical Center in Hemet, California. She was born on January 18, 1930, and was daughter of the late Amos and Elvira (Garbani) Cameron. She was married to the love of her life James Calkins for 61 wonderful years. Bettye and James travelled to Hawaii for their honeymoon and fell in love with the Islands especially Kauai. They have travelled back to many special places in Kauai throughout their life. Bettye liked to read novels by Maeve Binchy. She loved to garden and was considered an expert in decorating. Bettye was an active member of the Assistance League in Hemet for over 30 years and a member or the Ave Maria Sorority. Her family describes her as one who always put others before herself, she was warm, caring, organized and had beautiful eyes. Surviving is her husband James Calkins, son, James Cameron, daughter, Caryn Pastorius, sisters, Berta Scharer and Pearl Peccornini, grandchildren Alexis and Jeffery White.

A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church located at 780 S. State Street Hemet, California 92544. Interment will follow at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA.
