

Carl Arthur Swanson passed away on October 22, 2023 in Hemet, California. He was born on April 22, 1933 in Los Angeles, California to his parents, Carl and Ruth Swanson and he was their only child. After high school, Carl attended college and joined the U.S. Air Force. Carl served as Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged after four years of service. Eventually, Carl ended up meeting the love of his life, Claire, while she was out mowing the lawn at her parent’s house. When Carl was 25, he married Claire and they went on to live in Inglewood for years to come. They had three children. Carl was a dedicated husband and loving father. He was a very hard worker and worked as an Engineer for the City of Inglewood Fire Department for 27 years. When he wasn’t busy working, Carl enjoyed Jeeping. Carl and Claire moved the family to Hemet in 1969. During his retirement, Carl enjoyed relaxing in his favorite chair and watching NASCAR, drag races, and movies. He also had great interest in the stock market. Carl and Claire enjoyed having breakfast and dinner out at their favorite restaurants together. Carl loved his family and enjoyed being with all of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was an amazing man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Carl and Ruth Swanson. Carl is survived by his wife of 65 years, Claire Swanson, his children, Van Swanson, Victor Swanson, and Joyce (Terry) Ireland, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends. A committal service will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 11:30am at Riverside National Cemetery.
