Clarence Edward Allums, Sr.
Clarence Edward Allums, Sr., affectionately known as "Moot" and "M.A.", 69, was born on November 17, 1944, to the proud parents of Iclee (Shehee) Allums and James Willie Allums in Sibley, Louisiana. He was the ninth of ten children. Moot departed this life and entered into eternal peace Monday, June 2, 2014, at the Arlington Garden care center in Riverside, California, following a brief battle with throat cancer.
Moot's formal education began in Sibley, Louisiana, where he excelled in all subjects areas at J.L. Jones Elementary, Phillip Junior High, and Webster High School, where he ran the 50 and 100 yard dash on the school's track team. Later, Moot enrolled into Compton Community College located in Compton, California in pursuit of a Sociology degree for two years prior to a terrible motorcycle accident that left him with nine toes and a limp.
On June 17, 1967 at the Church of God in Christ in Sibley, Louisiana at 3:00pm, Moot married his supportive and loving wife, Minnie Ola Moore. From this union four beautiful gems came forth: Ambrose, Nikita, Clarence Jr. and Bobby.
Moot worked at Martin Murietta in Torrance, CA where he was a machine operator making aluminum wrapping foil and later a bus driver prior to enrolling into Compton community College.
Stemming from childhood until his last day, Moot had a passion for sports. His appreciation and knowledge of sports was so profound that many nurses at the nursing home would go into his room on their breaks to watch and talk sports with him. Moot was also an avid reader. He was a reader of any and every genre of books, but what he could not do without was a daily dose of the newspaper. If he did not get his newspaper, he would make it his business to let you know he was unhappy. Moot also loved watching and betting on horse races.
Clarence Edward Allums, Sr. a.k.a. "Moot" was preceded in death by his parents Iclee (Shehee) Allums and James Willie alums; his brothers Charlie, Robert, Wilson, Wilkins, Benny Ray Allums; his sisters Gloria Smith, Nelton Sneed and Joyce Trammell.
He leaves to cherish his memories Minnie Ola Moore (West Blockton, AL); his son Ambrose of Los Angeles, CA; his doting and loving daughter and son-in-law Nikita (Patrick) Gilmore of Riverside, CA; his son Clarence Jr. (Carmen) of Westminister, CA; his son Bobby (Quza) of Bristow, VA; his grandchildren Erica, Tierra, Raymond, Lisa, Amber, Jazmin, Bobby Jr., Samari, Coby, Lauryn, Brelon, Jayden; his great-grandchildren Justice, Brooklyn, Janae, an host of relatives and friends.
