

Donald Edward Hegg Sr., 81 Aerospace Engineer for over 45 years, Entrepreneur, Consultant, Handyman, father and grandfather passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Murrieta, California. He was born Wednesday, December 27, 1933 in Buffalo, New York, and was the son of the late Edward and Grace Hegg. Don proudly served in the U.S. Army for 3 years. Donald was a very successful aerospace engineer where he worked with Rockwell, Honeywell and Boeing. His work ethic and dedication lead him to the upper ranks at Rockwell. He was Chief Engineer of the Apollo 1st stage rocket. Don enjoyed air shows, museums, theme parks. He was also a huge sports fan, always enjoyed watching and talking about sports with whoever would listen. After working hard all week, he looked forward to a Sunday drive with the kids, the kids often had different opinions, but the day usually became a fond memory for all. The family also loved to travel to Lake Almanor, there are many great memories of these family vacations. From dropping the motor in the lake, getting caught in the dingy in a bad storm, dad losing his glasses in the lake repeatedly, it was always interesting. His family describes him as intelligent, loyal, and unforgiving at times. He was loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving are his biological children Donna Hegg, Donald Hegg Jr. and wife Carol, Margaret Myers and husband Gary, and Charles Hegg, step-children Conway De Sha and wife Darlena and Michelle Riley, there are many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceding in death was second wife Ruth Evelyn Hegg and his first wife Mary Louise Hegg, brothers Edward and David Hegg. A remembrance service will be held at Miller-Jones Mortuary at 1501 W Florida Ave, Hemet CA 92543 on March 3rd from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, a graveside service will be at Riverside National Cemetery on March 4th, at 2:00 pm , staging area 1. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Dons name to the Wounded Warrior Fund.
