Ernie was a fiercely proud American and Vietnam Veteran who was born in Ilocos Sur, Phillipines and joined the United States Navy in 1958 where he was promoted through the ranks and retired as a Senior Chief ENCS (SS) after 24 years of service. He was awarded numerous medals and awards for his bravery during his time in combat including: Navy Commendation Medal w/Combat 'V', Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal (6), National Defense Service Medal. While serving in Vietnam he was directly involved in over one hundred combat patrols while under the constant threat of enemy attack.
Although Ernie was proud of his military achievements, his proudest accomplishments in life were his four grandchildren and three daughters. He taught them how to always follow their dreams, work hard to accomplish those dreams and above all else to be kind and generous to others.
He is survived by his wife of five years Edelwina Arrogante; Daughters, Lolita Trini Ashe, Lolita Teresa Kraft (Andy), Lisi Tanya Pickell (Ray); Grandchildren, Anton Kraft (Kelsie), Colton Kraft (Johanna), William Ashe, Peyton Ashe and his daughter's mother Thaynell Lamb; his sister Presentacion (Prissy) Arrogante, brother Jesus Purisima; his wife's sons Reiden Capino & Brylle Angel; he was predeceased by his second wife Juliet Arrogante.
Ernie was a generous, kind and loving man who would offer help to anyone in need. Ernie was known for his love of Nascar especially Dale Earnhardt, entering dance contests where he could rarely be outdone in the shag, the swing, the cha-cha and was a limbo champ, he loved driving fast cars along the California coast, working crossword puzzles and loved animals beyond measure (the two cats he rescued, Puss & Bella will miss him very much).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Ernie's name to the SPCA or local Humane Society.
A memorial Service will be held at the Miller-Jones Mortuary, 26770 Murrieta Rd, Sun City, CA 92586. at 3:30 PM, with a reception following.
